Some pets simply will not accept tablets or capsules — and that's where liquid supplements earn their place. Liquid NutriCalm by Rx Vitamins is a natural herbal calming formula designed specifically for dogs and cats who need stress support in the most accessible format possible: a liquid that can be mixed directly into food or given orally with a syringe. It's especially practical for cats and small dogs, where precise, small-volume dosing matters.
Rx Vitamins is a manufacturer with a strong reputation in the veterinary nutraceutical space — their formulas are developed by veterinarians, carry the NASC (National Animal Supplement Council) quality seal, and are formulated without unnecessary fillers or artificial flavours. Liquid NutriCalm is authorized as a Veterinary Health Product by Health Canada (NN.M2F8).
Shake well before each use. Give orally twice daily or one hour before a stressful event.
Do not use in pregnant or lactating animals, or in immature animals. Do not give prior to anaesthesia or alongside CNS depressants. Not for use in animals with kidney, liver, or thyroid disease unless directed by a veterinarian. Store at 15–25°C out of direct sunlight.
Liquid NutriCalm and NutriCalm Suspension (the newer salmon-flavoured version) share the same core active ingredient profile. If your pet accepts both, the suspension may offer a palatability advantage due to the salmon flavour. Liquid NutriCalm remains the established formulation and is appropriate for pets who take supplements mixed into food without concern about flavour. Both are appropriate for daily use — unlike pharmaceutical anxiolytics, the herbal ingredients in this formula support healthy neurotransmitter function rather than suppressing it, making them safe for chronic use without dependency risk.
For situational use, give one hour before the stressful event. The full anxiolytic effect of L-theanine typically develops within 30–60 minutes. For chronic anxiety, allow 2–4 weeks of twice-daily use before fully assessing response.
Consult your veterinarian if your cat is on any medications. The product label specifies avoiding use with CNS depressants and in animals with kidney, liver, or thyroid disease — always disclose any supplements to your vet.
Liquid NutriCalm (Rx Vitamins) uses L-theanine, valerian root, and ashwagandha. Advanced CALM (MedVant) uses colostrum fraction, L-theanine, thiamine, and lecithin. Both promote calm without sedation but through partially different mechanisms — Advanced CALM emphasizes the colostrum fraction for GABA support, while NutriCalm leans on the adaptogenic ashwagandha-valerian combination. Some pets respond better to one than the other.
