Cohesive bandages are the outer layer of choice for veterinary wound dressings, and PetFlex by Andover Healthcare has been a favourite in veterinary clinics for decades. Unlike adhesive bandages that stick to fur and cause painful removal, PetFlex uses a self-adhering latex formula that bonds only to itself — wrapping securely around legs, paws, and body without sticking to fur, skin, or your patient's dignity.
PetFlex 2-inch rolls come in fun assorted patterns — Pet, Rainbow, and Safari print options — that make bandage changes a little less stressful for pets and owners alike. The 36-roll bulk box is perfect for veterinary clinics, groomers, multi-pet households, or anyone who goes through bandaging supplies regularly. At roughly $2.77 per roll in the Pet assorted box, it's exceptional value for a trusted professional-grade product.
Apply over a gauze or padding layer — never directly to an open wound. Wrap with 50% overlap on each pass, applying gentle tension but not stretching the bandage tightly. PetFlex should be snug but not constrictive — you should be able to slip two fingers under the completed bandage. For paw bandages, bring the wrap up to the mid-carpus/tarsus to prevent the bandage from slipping downward.
PetFlex contains latex — if your patient has a known latex sensitivity (uncommon in pets but documented), choose a latex-free option such as the Kruuse Vet-Flex or Millpledge Rapz Easy Tear bandages. For chewing-prone patients, the Andover No Chew PetFlex is a better choice — its bitter coating discourages removal. PetFlex is not a primary wound contact layer and should never be applied directly to an open wound.
What patterns are available?
Available in Assorted Pet prints, Assorted Rainbow, and Assorted Safari — each box contains a mix of designs in the chosen assortment.
Is the 2-inch width appropriate for cats?
Yes — 2 inches works well for cats. For very small cats, wrap with less tension and overlap to avoid over-compression.
Does PetFlex contain latex?
Yes — it contains latex. For latex-sensitive patients, choose a latex-free cohesive bandage alternative.
How do I prevent the bandage from slipping?
Extend the wrap 1-2 cm above the dressing on both ends to anchor it. Starting from the bottom (toes) and working upward also helps prevent downward slippage.
