Description

Conformable Adhesive Fabric for Secure Dressing Fixation

Securing a wound dressing on a pet — especially over curved or irregular surfaces — presents unique challenges. Standard tape tears or buckles, cohesive bandage may be too bulky, and gauze alone doesn't provide adequate fixation. BSN Medical Hypafix is a large-format adhesive non-woven fabric roll designed specifically for dressing fixation over large wound areas, body surfaces, and post-surgical sites where conventional tapes are impractical.

Hypafix's soft, non-woven backing conforms to body contours without wrinkling, providing even pressure distribution and a comfortable, breathable interface between the dressing and the outer fixation layer. The acrylate adhesive bonds firmly to skin and light fur while remaining gentle enough for sensitive skin and repeated application sites.

Key Features

  • Large 10 cm x 10 m roll — cost-effective for multiple dressing changes
  • Highly conformable non-woven fabric adapts to body contours
  • Gentle acrylate adhesive — secure without skin trauma on removal
  • Breathable construction prevents skin maceration
  • Ideal for large wound areas, trunk, and chest bandaging
  • BSN Medical clinical quality — used in veterinary hospitals worldwide

Best Applications

Hypafix is particularly well-suited for: securing large abdominal or thoracic dressings, fixating wound drains and tube sites, covering large post-surgical incision areas, and maintaining dressing position on body sites where circumferential bandaging is not possible. Cut to size with scissors for precise coverage.

Supplement Advisor's Note

Hypafix sticks best to clipped or shaved skin. For heavily furred areas, the adhesion is reduced and the fabric may require reinforcement with surgical tape at the edges. When removing Hypafix, pull slowly and parallel to the skin surface — pulling at a 90° angle is more likely to cause skin stripping in sensitive patients. An adhesive remover (Eaze-Off or Remove) makes removal significantly more comfortable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Hypafix be used directly over a wound?
No — Hypafix is a fixation material, not a wound contact layer. Always place an appropriate wound contact dressing between the wound and Hypafix.

Is it suitable for post-surgical use?
Yes — it is one of the most commonly used products for securing post-surgical dressings over incision sites and drain tubes in veterinary medicine.
