Multi-cat households are among the most common sources of chronic feline stress. Cats are fundamentally solitary hunters — sharing territory requires careful management, and when it goes wrong, the results range from subtle tension (avoidance, competition for resources) to overt aggression, hissing, fighting, and injury. Even cats that have lived together for years can develop conflict following a change in household dynamics.
Ceva Feliway Friends uses a synthetic version of the Cat Appeasing Pheromone (C.A.P.) — a pheromone produced by lactating mothers that promotes bonding and tolerance between cats who share the same social group. When diffused into a multi-cat environment, it helps reduce inter-cat tension, aggression, blocking behaviour, and competition over resources like food bowls, litter boxes, and resting spots.
Feliway Friends is often confused with Feliway Classic, but they target different problems. Feliway Classic addresses individual cat stress and spraying; Feliway Friends specifically targets the relationship between cats in a shared space. For households introducing a new cat, using Feliway Friends proactively from day one — before the introduction — significantly improves integration outcomes compared to starting after tension has already developed.
Feliway Classic uses the feline facial pheromone to reduce individual cat stress and spraying. Feliway Friends uses Cat Appeasing Pheromone (C.A.P.) to specifically reduce inter-cat tension and aggression. They can be used simultaneously if both problems are present.
One diffuser covers up to 70 m² and can support a household of 2–4 cats. For very large households or multiple conflict zones, additional diffusers in separate rooms may be beneficial.
Begin using Feliway Friends at least 1 week before the new cat arrives. Continue for at least 4–6 weeks after the introduction, and longer if tension persists.
